This book started it all for us. It led us to the idea of building a house without a mortgage and to alternative building materials.

We read through this book several times prior to starting the project.

www.daycreek.com

We found this web site when searching for cordwood/masonry building on the web site. Alan's journal was indispensable for us because he was enough steps ahead of us in the building process to take his advice and lessons learned. We used his formula for the masonry mix because it used recycled newspaper possibly adding to the R-value. Before we began our house, we went and camped on Alan's property and helped build a wall to see if we had the tenacity to undertake this project. If you want to read that entry in his journal go to    http://www.daycreek.com/dc/HTML/journal062401.htm

The Art of Engineering owned by Scott Harvey

We originally picked Scott out of the phone book because we liked the name of the company. Luckily, the Universe works perfectly every time because Scott is a wonderful engineer with a passion in alternative building. The blueprints he put together for us allowed us to build our house with ease in understanding. His web site is www.artofengineering.com
