WORMS EAT MY GARBAGE...
is a great title of the book you will want to read if you choose to compost with worms. This is a really fun project and you cannot believe how hard these little guys work. I just set up my worm bin at the end of December 2009. You start with these two Rubbermaid containers, poking holes in the bottom of the inside one for fluid escape, and two inch holes for vents (cat not included).
I put about a pound of kitchen scrapes in the box a week and those little guys eat it down to nothing! The beautiful stuff they produce as a result is black gold for the greenhouse. The way to recover this black gold is to dump the contents on a big plastic sheet. The worms do not like light so move to the bottom of the pile. I can then scrape off the top and return the worms to the box with new bedding for them to begin again!
